Skid slab

Skid slab
  • Finding the optimum stopping distance
  • Avoiding suddenly appearing obstacles
  • Braking on roads with one slippery side
  • Regaining control of a skidding car: A computer-controlled hydraulic slab in the road, which is covered with high-grip asphalt, suddenly moves the rear of the car to the left or right, thereby putting it into a skid. The driver has to stabilise the car by adequate steering manoeuvres on the following 90-metre-long slippery road.

Circular track with slippery surface

Circular track with slippery surface

Floodable circular track (65 metres in diameter) with slippery surface
What is trained here?

  • Oversteer and understeer in bends: learning the right driving techniques that will, ideally, keep your car from 'fishtailing' or 'pushing' straight ahead. However, you will also learn how to regain control if it does.
  • Emergency braking while driving through a bend.

Dynamics pad with slippery surface

Dynamics pad with slippery surface

This track (30 x 100 metres) is escellently suited for a variety of braking and evasive manoeuvres.
What is trained here?

  • Braking and swerving on slippery roads
  • Finding the optimum stopping distance both on dry and slippery surfaces

Downhill track with slippery surface

Downhill track with slippery surface

This 150 metres long and 35 metres wide track is also ideal for training programmes with heavy vehicles: The special dynamics of a fully laden lorry on a slippery downhill track can be impressively demonstrated here.

What is trained here?
  • Finding the optimum stopping distance
  • Brading on roads with one slippery side
  • Avoiding suddenly appearing obstacles: Water fountains that shoot out of the road ask for deliberate and smooth evasive manoeuvres.

Large dynamics pad with slippery surface

Large dynamics pad with slippery surface

With its slippery surface this large training area (40 x 120 metres) is ideal for all kinds of braking and evasive manoeuvres. This track is not just used for car trainings, it is also an ideal location for safety training with heavy vehicles.

What is trained here?
  • Braking and swerving on slippery roads
  • Changing lanes on wet asphalt: Undeer very realistic conditions, dynamic changing of lanes in emergencies can be trained on thes driving-dynamics pad. Drivers get to know firsthand how speed and steering wheel movements affect their car; they also learn to appreciate the additional degree of safety they can get from modern support systems such as ABS, ESP and others.
  • Finding the optimum stopping distance both on dry and slippery surfaces
  • Evasive manoeuvres with ABS on wet asphalt: getting to know the advantages and limits of ABS under realistic conditions

What is trained here?
  • Oversteer and understeer in slippery bends: learning the right driving techniques that will, ideally, keep your car from 'fishtailing' or 'pushing' straight ahead. But you will also learn how to regain control if it does.

Small crest with slippery surface

Small crest with slippery surface

After driving over a crest, various driving exercises have to be carried out on a slippery downhill road (12% slope) in spite of difficult road conditions.

What is trained here?
  • Finding the optimum stopping distance
  • Braking on reads weth one sloppery side
  • Avoiding suddenly appearing obstacles
  • Avoiding as well as dealing with oversteer and understeer
  • Braking while driving through a bend

Braking track with slippery surface

Braking track with slippery surface

This track measures 30 x 70 metres; with its silppery surface it is used for a wide variety of braking exercises and evasive manoeuvres.

What is trained here?
  • Braking and avoiding obstacles on a slippery road
  • Finding the optimum stopping distance both on dry and slippery surface

Omega Bend (floodable)

Omega Bend (floodable)

This is one of the most demanding parts of the Sachsenring circuit because it is a bend with an extreme radius that is difficult to enter and exit. On this flooded part of the track participants learn how to corner correctly and how to brake while driving through the bend.

Broken-rock handling track

Broken-rock handling track

The 500-metre-long broken-rock circuit is exclusively used for Uwe Nittel's rally training. The impressive skill of driving sideways in 4x4 rally Mitsubishis is THE HIGHLIGHT for the participants in the Step 2 course of drift&drive - the rally school operated by Uwe Nittel.

Aquaplaning basin

Aquaplaning basin

The 65 metres long and 4 centimetres deep basin is just the place to let participants experience firsthand the dreaded loss of grip and the dangerous interaction of speed and water depth.

Off-road track

Offroad-track

Get off the beaten track - our small but selective off-road area is just the right place for off-road specialists. Whether you are taking on a steep slope, driving over rough ground with crossed axles or tackling the rubble heap - the fun is all yours!

Paddock / slippery surface

Paddock / slippery surface

This is the area where the racing team trucks are parked during motorsport events. But it is also a very busy place if there is no racing: The asphalt-covered surface can be flooded, thus turning it into a slippery-surface driving training area, which is 120 metres long and 40 metres wide.

WHAT is trained here?
  • Braking and swerving on slippery roads
  • Finding the optimum stopping distance both on dry and slippery surfaces

If you intend to organise your own driving safety training, you can rent a suitable part of our training facilities and we will be happy to fit you into our daily schedule. Depending on the programme planned by you, the rental includes both the training track and its facilities and equipment.
